Portfolios > Language Pictures

How we use language, who has voice and how it can be deployed is an important aspect of this work. This work recontextualizes contemporary concerns by examining the language we use to frame them. All of these objects and paintings foreground the language framing day-to-day events or historic ideas, In this project, language itself becomes a site of enquiry, and reflecting upon it offers an analysis of mutual concerns, as the artworks reflect and create metaphors.

Rust Belt Stanzas are made in response to struggling former industrial, rust belt cities. They incorporate words referencing mutuality and common purpose, but the text is written in rust on corroded steel plates.
