*Migrant Objects*
The Migrant Object project began with research into the categories and types of
3-D printable files made available by different American and European museums. Using prints made from these files, I create table-top tableaux or assemblages, installed atop hand drawn mind-maps and traces of connections. These explore inherent issues of power and consumerism, but also offer ideas for new taxonomies, and suggest unexpected, surprising and even comical possibilities.
The works in Migrant Objects: Relics and Playthings are both handmade and digitally created. They envision the objects made from the 3-d printable files as a cast of characters, placing the objects in new and changing relation to each other, riffing, re-creating and undermining traditional categorizations and power relationships, as well as discovering surprising juxtapositions and humorous, satirical, or critical relationships.
