Like the paintings in my project "What Color is the Sea" (also in portfolios) the colors in the paintings in "All the Water..." were derived from a conversations with people, who chose from an array of paint swatches to reflect their perceptions of the color of the water. I asked people to stop, look, consider, and choose a color they thought matched whichever part of the sea or sky they were drawn to. They noted the day and time and any other information. Each column reflects one day, and is painted from the cumulative color suggestions.
