In 2023 I was a fellow at the Skopelos Center for the Arts, on Skopelos,in the Aegean sea. While there I experimented with traditional materials, including using local wine honey and olive oil as a binder for pigment, much as the ancient greeks did.

"The Wine-Dark Sea" is a famous line from Homer's The Iliad, which takes place on the coast of the Aegean. Olive oil, wine and honey, are all referenced in the epic poem.
