In 2023 I was a fellow at the Skopelos Center for the Arts, on Skopelos,in the Aegean sea. I did several bodies of work there, including sculptures, paintings and videos using materials on the island: olive oil, honey, red wine and clay amphorae in traditional shapes, along with with blue and white pigments on slabs of marble, to reference the Greek flag and the white buildings against the blue sea. "The Wine-Dark Sea" is a famous line from Homer's The Iliad, which takes place on the coast of the Aegean. Olive oil, wine and honey, are all referenced in the epic poem.
