The title of this project: All the Water that Ever Was Now Is was taken from a 90's National Geographic article which reminded us that water is a type of commons. The article outlined that what happens to water anywhere will eventually affect water quality everywhere. It called out our related and overlapping water crises: drought and floods due to climate change, pollution, insufficient policy structures to protect water across states and countries.
This sculptural installation is comprised of a huge variety of clear glass vessels, all crowdsourced, filled with colored water. The color of the water from one vessel refracts and changes the color of the water in the other vessels, making literal the point that all of us are impacted.
In the rear are hung semi transparent panels with printed with weather and water quality mapping of Lake Michigan.
