Forever Touched with Dew
2013
When French completed his first commission, Emily Dickinson sent him a poem that included the lines "Success is dust but an aim forever touched with dew. God keep you fundamental". It struck me that sculptor's clay is 'dust touched with dew' and so i created a clay-over-wire armature of the sort French used to model his reliefs, and inscribed it with her poem in his handwriting. I left it in a frame, in an -in-progress state, greeting the visitors when they enter the hall.
